Q: we have a 1998 Nissan Sentra the headlight's turn on by the signal switch does it work from a fuse?
when i turn the switch i have no low beam's or high beam's when i push it forward to lock to high beam's. However when i pull the signal switch back as to flash the highbeam's i have highbeam's. When i cut the car the car off and turn the switch back to turn the light's off. The park light's stay on.i had to unplug the battery terminal .Does this switch work off a fuse and if so which fuse is it? Please Answer ASAP.
A: If your problem was a fuse or a headlamp relay none of the lights would work. It would cut all power past the fuse and you'd have no lights to do anything. It sounds like the ignition dimmer switch assembly which is located inside the steering column of your nissan. It's a multifunction switch controls all your lights and in some models the windshield wipers and windshield wiper fluid. They are expensive on these sentras.
go to (www.partsamerica.com) search for ignition dimmer switch and a list of them will come up. This will give you an idea of the cost of the part and how fast you can get one too.
good luck
Q: What size of chrome wheels should I put on a 1998 Nissan Sentra?
A: I assume what you are looking at doing is "up sizing" or "plus sizing" . Since there are a couple of optional tires for the Sentra rule of thumb is going a "plus one" or plus two" there are coversion charts available at most tire shops and they can tell you exactly what your options are based on your current size of tire. Anyway based on what the Tire Guide says I wouldn't go any more than a 17" wheel since your current size is more than likely a 14" or 15" now. Maybe an 18" would work depending on how much clearance on the suspension is available and what kind of offset is available on the 18" wheel. What is going to happen next is you are going to increase the width (the first three numbers of the tire size) of the tire more than what it is now by at least two sizes and decrease the profile ( the second two numbers of the tire size) by 5 or 10. So say you start with a 195 60R 15 you would be going up to a 205 55R 16. This keeps the overall diameter within 3% of the orginal tire size.Same principal can be used with a 17" wheel.
Q: 1998 nissan sentra air only blows on four?
1,2, and 3 don't work. There's no sound at all when I turn it on, and i've read that (for the newer models, at least) it's a bad blower motor resistor. three questions: where is the blower motor resistor, and how do i change the resistor? and does the fact that my nissan is a 1998 change anything?
A: Might want to look here ... there was a pretty good write-up of how to do it. Seems to be an easy fix.
Q: How do you change a brake light bulb on a 1998 Nissan Sentra?
A: For most newer cars, there should be an access panel right behind the brake light housing. It may look like it blends with the upholstery but it can be opened. If you open it, you'll have access the bulbs which are fairly easy to remove by twisting out. Once removed go to wal-mart or an auto parts store and get a replacement.
Q: I own a 1998 Nissan Sentra. The other day when driving the warning light for the battery turned on and stayed?
on. I checked the output of the alternator and the voltage of the battery on (13.90 v) and off (12.67 v) and everything seems to be okay. Any suggestions?
A: 12.67v while off is actually a little low. Your battery, when fully charged, should show around 13-13.2v, and while charging should see about 14-14.5. It sounds like maybe your alternator isn't quite delivering the way it should. Get it checked.
Q: Where does the transmission fluid go in a 1998 Nissan Sentra?
i cannot find where the fluid goes in this car...anybody have this car and know, or just know?
A: the hole where you check it...parts store has special funnels.
Q: I need helping installing new speakers into a 1998 Nissan Sentra GXE?
How can I get started? There's two big black speakers that go in the trunk, doesn't have a brand name or model on them. I got them from a friend, so I don't have a box or manual. Is there any place where I can find information on how to do this? What tools will I need, etc?
Thanks for the help!
A: Your two big black speakers that go in the trunk are called sub-woofers. You need to get an amplifier. Connect the speakers to the amp, connect the amp to the battery and the head unit. Take the power wire that runs from the amp, connect it to the positive on the battery, connect the ground wire to a good ground connection. There should be a connection on your amp that says"REM" for the remote wire. connect this wire to the blue reomote wire on the deck. Connect the RCA cables to the RCA connections on the back of your deck, then connect the two big black speakers that go in the trunk to the amp, with speaker wire. Or take it to someone who knows what they're doing.
Q: What is a fair price for a 1998 Nissan Sentra?
It has about 130,000 miles on it, A/C, cassette player, power windows & locks, brakes have just been replaced, and it runs fine. It does have some rust, and some cigarette burn marks, but no major smoke odor. What would you ask if you were selling the car? What would you want to pay if you were buying it?
A: 2800
Q: where is the evap canister vent control valve located on a 1998 nissan sentra gxe 1.6 liter ?
is it something i can do easily or should a dealership do it ?
A: open hood, it will be on the right side of the car (passenger) and at the front in the area to the right side of the radiator. It is an oblong shaped box that has a round cap on it.
and yes, you can do this easily. To easily identify this, the black round cap on it has 2 lines coming to it, one is the vacuum line and the other is the bleed line.
This box is fairly easy to see. Heres a photo of it I will have it circled in the photo...

Q: What type of power steering fluid would go in a 1998 Nissan Sentra?
I'm low on fluids, but I don't know what I need.
Thanks for being an y, there are different kinds of power steering fluid. Good job showing your ignorance.
A: The liquid kind. Go to Auto zone, and look for........wait for it.....Power steering fluid.
No need for name calling.....what I'm trying to tell you, is that most bottles will tell you if it's ok for your car. You need Dextron lll or equivalent for your system. I've located a PDF for you if you want it. It's also in your owners manual.
If you don't trust me, you can download it yourself from rapidshare.com . It's a bit of a pain, but you can get your whole maintenance manual for free.
Q: How to increase MPG of nissan sentra 1998?
I have nissan sentra 1998. It gives low MPG. I have read a lot about controls in driving on internet to increase MPG. I always follow those. Still it is not good enough. I use regular gas. is there any way to increase MPG of my car?
Vee
A: Make sure tire pressure is correct
Keep car clean and light(keep trunk empty)
Accelerate slower and drive slower. For example, driving at 75mph uses 15% more fuel than at 62mph.
And every 10mph faster is 4mpg worse as stated by www.motorists.org
Premium or midgrade gas does NOT increase gas mileage or make your car last longer.
Keep air filter clean. Replace every 6000 miles.
Replace Sparkplugs every 2 years so the engine uses less gas while starting up.
If this is a manual car, shift gears at 3000 rpm, not 4000 and higher.
Q: Front end problems with a 1998 nissan sentra?
I have a 1998 nissan sentra. Getting a vibration on the steering, and car, taught it was the rims / tires damaged, (i had 17"rims, nexen tires on the car). Last week I had NEW RIMS, and TIRES installed, alligned and balanced, and still a major vibration on the front end of the car when i take my foot off of the accellarator. This only happens at speeds above 100km. Can anyone suggest a cause/ solution?
A: Seems to be an alignment problem if it only happens at high speed. But it could also be a whole range of other issues, possibly to do with your suspention.
I suggest you take to a professional to get it sorted.
Also dont drive too fast, getting your license taken away isnt fun ;)
