Q: what is the valve cover torque sequence of a 2000 nissan altima?
i replace the valve cover and i'm told the gasket is leaking because its not set to the right torque, and i need to set it to the proper valve cover torque sequence, so does anybody know what it is or where i can find it? and also i need its pressure.
A: I would say that it is no more than 20 ft lbs... you should torque from the inside out... and if they have been over torqued there is a chance the gasket is no longer good and you will need to replace it.

A: it could be alot of things. a short in the system, bad connection, something wrong on the inside of instrument cluster. tell me this, does the whole dash go dead or just the things in the guage cluster?

Q: Where is the seat belt light fuse on a 2000 Nissan Altima?
It blinks constantly, even when I am wearing my seat belt. I can't seem to find the fuse for that light. Does anyone know where it is? Or better yet why it never goes off even if I am wearing my seatbelt?
Oh that makes sense.....So is there a way to just replace the buckle and not the whole seat belt....assembly or whatever you'd call it?
A: it dosent go aff because the contacts in the buckle are malfunctioning, the wire that controlls the contacts may also be broken or shorted, the circuit is run through the body control module and therefore the fuse cannot be pulled to make the light go out.

A: if the clip on the glass came off your best bet is a neew window glass, reglue usually does not hold for long

I have lost my key for this car. I know that I can have the car towed to the nearest dealer( 30 miles away) and have a key made & programmed for the car if the code was stored when the car was manufactured. That process would cost more than $100. This car is used as a newspaper route car. I don't really care about the sescurity system--I don't need it. My fondest hope is that the security system can be disabled. Any ideas or suggestions will be appreciated.
A: In addition to locksmith, also give the dealership a call. Car locks are not unique to each car. The car manufacturers only use a set number of key combinations. Write the VIN number down from your dash, and call the dealership to see if the key is in stock. They may require proof of ownership or identity.

A: ok as an altima owner myself i understand what you mean cuz i felt the same way especialy when gas was through the roof so what i did was a complete tune up with the best things that they had spark plugs new coils (cuz they dont have wires) and whent from regular oil to synthetic got new tires, i had a k&n air filter but decided to go with a cold air intake and cleaned out my trunk also i drived normal i think it was worth it cuz a full tank of gas lasted me a week and a half but then again i do drive a lot

A: Yeah, just like Richard W said, its not all that easy.
You'll need to completely change your transmission.
Not cheap, even used. Then you'll have to install all different pedals (Brake, clutch) plus all the linkages, master & slave cylinders, plus you'll have to change your cars computer, since its programmed for an automatic transmission.
You definitely would be better off selling this car, and buying the same car but with the features you want. It would be a helluvalot cheaper, faster, and easier, unless youre in for quite, and I mean QUITE a challenge.

My nissan altima 2000 needs valve cover gasket replaced.
When i recently changed my oil the service personnel told it would cost $125 and 1 hour of work.
When I called back to check the price of labor, another service personnel answered and told its a 7 hour work so it would cost around $625. I am not sure whats going on.

A: Valve gasket is about 1 to 1.5 hrs to replace. Its right on top, under your valve cover (where your spark plugs go in, next to it). The gasket itself can range from $5 -$35. Normally only takes a few wreches to under 4 bolts and to remove a few other items. Removing of the gasket, cleaning of the area, new gasket installed, put back together.
Sounds like the 7 hr quote might of been for an intake manifold gasket maybe.
